Welcome Targeting Cancer’s First Ambassador – Tommy Oar

11 Dec 2014

The Targeting Cancer campaign is very pleased to welcome Socceroo, Tommy Oar, as the first Ambassador for the campaign.

Tommy, at 22, is an up and coming Australian talent who played for the Socceroos in Brazil in the World Cup. He usually plays for FC Utrecht in the Netherlands. He has 35,000+ twitter followers, who have all been sent a post by him about the campaign.

Tommy’s link to radiation therapy is through his elder brother, Andrew, who is one of our inspiring, enthusiastic trainees active in the Targeting Cancer campaign.

Tommy hopes that his involvement in the campaign will raise public awareness of the benefit of radiation therapy.

“I think it is very important to make people fully aware of the treatment options for such a serious illness,” Oar, said.

“While one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer could benefit from this therapy, less than a third will actually get to receive it.

“This is probably because the public’s awareness and understanding of chemotherapy and surgery are higher than that of radiation therapy.

“This is definitely a fantastic cause and I am only too happy to help out.”20140815Tommy Oar001
