The Faculty of Radiation Oncology encourages participation in the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry – Australia and New Zealand

16 Nov 2017

The Faculty of Radiation Oncology of Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) is pleased to support and endorse a new clinical quality initiative funded by the Movember Foundation. Participants (including prostate radiation oncologists, urologists and their organisations) actively contributing to the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry – Australia and New Zealand (PCOR-ANZ) will now be positively acknowledged with the “Stamp”.

 ABOUT PCOR-ANZ

PCOR-ANZ is a population-based prostate cancer clinical registry to assist improving the quality and treatment of care provided to men with prostate cancer. The registry achieves this by:

  • Monitoring, benchmarking and reporting on the outcomes of prostate cancer treatment and care;
  • Providing risk adjusted, evidence based data to clinicians and hospitals
  • Determining the clinical effectiveness of treatments in a real world setting;
  • Identifying factors that predict favourable and unfavourable treatment outcomes, particularly in relation to the major adverse effects;
  • Providing information to patients about the risks and benefits of specific approaches to prostate cancer treatment; and
  • Fostering research leading to improvement in care and survival; ideally enabling comparisons across countries.

By 2018, the registry plans to be collecting data on over 85% of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer in Australia and New Zealand.

A key feature of PCOR-ANZ is the positive acknowledgment and promotion of clinicians and hospitals that are committed to clinical quality through participation in the registry. This is known as the “Stamp” initiative.

ABOUT THE STAMP INITIATIVE

The PCOR-ANZ Stamp initiative has been designed to positively acknowledge hospitals and clinicians who are committed to quality treatment and outcomes through active participation in the Registry. Participants in PCOR-ANZ are acknowledged for the active contribution they are making by:

  • providing required patient information from their hospital/practice
  • providing explanatory information to patients and carers about the registry and its purpose
  • acting on information that is provided back as a result of the registry regarding quality of care

Alongside this positive acknowledgement of participation, this initiative will also assist in educating men and their supporters on the importance of clinical quality and promote awareness of all clinicians and hospitals who are participating in PCOR-ANZ.

Organisations or individuals participating will receive a framed Certificate of Participation, to display in their consulting suite or other appropriate location.

They will also be listed as a participating individual or organisation on the PCOR-ANZ website should they choose to do so.

Participants will also receive access to a digital copy of the Stamp to use on marketing materials (e.g. website, social media, printed material) or in promoting your participation (e.g. conference presentations):

A version of the Stamp specifically for use by RANZCR members has also been designed:
