Targeting Cancer Gets Motoring!

27 Jun 2018

The Targeting Cancer campaign is motoring with the release of a series of advertisements promoting the importance of radiation therapy as an effective curative treatment for cancer.

Running on more than 200 buses travelling on routes in the Tempe, Leichhardt, Randwick, Bondi, Burwood and Waverley areas of inner Sydney, the adverts highlight how radiation therapy can cure cancer.

The adverts also promote the campaign website and the need for cancer patients to discuss all possible treatment options with all their doctors, including GPs. Modern radiation therapy is poorly understood as a curative and palliative cancer treatment which means many patients miss out.

The advert highlights the Targeting Cancer campaign and promotes awareness of all treatment options.

“Targeting Cancer isn’t about saying that radiation therapy is better than another potential treatment option,” Targeting Cancer Clinical Lead A/Prof Sandra Turner said.

“The campaign is about providing patients with the full information to choose the right treatment option for them and helping patients ask whether radiation therapy might be suitable for them.

“We hope using these adverts will help spread this message to an even greater audience and of course ultimately help more cancer patients access this highly effective treatment and/or make fully informed treatment decisions.

“We strongly encourage campaign supporters to share any pictures of the ads on their personal social media channels. Any help in spreading the campaign message would be really appreciated.”

The adverts are intended to run for an initial four-week period but this may be extended.

Please share any pictures of the adverts you see with the Targeting Cancer Facebook and Twitter pages.

Targeting Cancer thanks APN Outdoor Advertising for their assistance organising the advertising.

Targeting Cancer is an initiative of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists which aims to raise awareness of radiation therapy among patients, their families, consumer organisations and other health professionals, especially GPs.
