Wallabies Star To Open Targeting Cancer Fun Run!

Wallabies legend Joe Roff will be opening this year's Targeting Cancer fun run. There's still time to enter!

Targeting Cancer is delighted to announce that Wallabies legend Joe Roff is opening the forthcoming annual Targeting Cancer Fun Run.

Roff, a winner of 86 Australian caps and Super Rugby star for the ACT Brumbies during his glittering career, will officially start this year’s event in Canberra.

This year’s 5km fun run takes place around the city’s Lake Burley Griffin and aims to once again raise awareness of the Targeting Cancer campaign, promoting knowledge and awareness of radiation therapy as a highly effective and underused cancer treatment.

“We’re honoured that Joe is giving his time to open the fun run,” Targeting Cancer Clinical Lead A/Prof Sandra Turner said.  “We thank him for getting involved.“

“Having a sporting legend like him attending should inspire everyone to get up early on a Saturday morning and join in.

“The fun run is a healthy and friendly way for people to show their support for Targeting Cancer. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to once again highlight the campaign’s key objectives, promoting radiation therapy as a safe and cost-effective treatment that cures a variety of cancers and improves quality of life.

“There’s still time to register and we welcome everyone – members of the public and attendees of the ASM – to join in for a good cause.”

The fun run takes place on Saturday, October 27, in conjunction with the Annual Scientific Meeting of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and sponsored by GenesisCare.

It starts at 6.15am and places must be registered in advance. To register and get your free Targeting Cancer t-shirt or singlet and cap, email info@targetingcancer.com.au or click here for more information.

Targeting Cancer is an initiative of RANZCR’s Faculty of Radiation Oncology, the peak body for radiation oncology in Australia and New Zealand. Targeting Cancer  promotes radiation therapy as a treatment option for cancer.
