Celebrating NRRTW In Style!

07 Dec 2018
There were some colourful celebrations to help mark NRRTW.

Targeting Cancer is delighted to congratulate the big-hearted radiation therapists at The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre, Westmead and Blacktown Cancer and Haematology Centre in Western Sydney for being recognised for their terrific efforts promoting radiation therapy.

A team representing both hospitals has been honoured by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy after hosting a series of activities during the recent National Radiographers and Radiation Therapists’ Week (NRRTW).

Their efforts included participating in the NSW Cancer Council’s Relay for Life and a historical display in the waiting room, sharing some of the key messages and information about the founding scientists of radiology. They also held a ‘Working Together‘ day providing information on radiation therapy and serving tasty treats to patients, staff and visitors.

Radiation therapists also held a morning of celebrations with paediatric patients at The Sydney Children’s Hospital Westmead. Activities included decorating immobilisation masks and other art and craft activities.

Their efforts saw the team win the ‘NRRTW Celebrations’ competition for best capturing the spirit of the week.

During the week, both teams helped promote Targeting Cancer and the hugely significant role radiation therapy plays in treating cancer.

NRRTW is held annually and helps both celebrate and raise further awareness of the professions and their vital role in modern healthcare.

The team did some great work highlighting the Targeting Cancer campaign during the week. Thank you guys!

It also helps highlight the important role of radiation therapy as an effective treatment option for cancer patients.

On behalf of Targeting Cancer, well done to all involved and thank you for raising more awareness of the campaign!
