Targeting Cancer in leaps and bounds

29 Oct 2019
Almost 100 people participated in the 2019 Targeting Cancer Fun Run around the Viaduct Basin in Auckland.

Nearly 100 people were up before the sun on a crisp Auckland morning to take part in the annual Targeting Cancer Fun Run, sponsored by GenesisCare. The pavement was rain-soaked and the air chilly but that didn’t dampen the spirits of our runners and walkers.

The Fun Run, which raises awareness of radiation therapy as a safe, effective and underused cancer treatment, was again a highlight of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists’ (RANZCR) Annual Scientific Meeting program.

There was a festive atmosphere around the Viaduct Basin as radiation oncologists, clinical radiologists, trainees, sponsors, exhibitors, consumers and College staff came together for the event. From dancing through personal trainer-led warm-ups to cheering each other across the finish line, the unwavering commitment and joyous spirit amongst the Targeting Cancer supporters was clear.

Congratulations goes to this year’s fastest female and male runners, Drs Gracie Keown and Adam Byrne, who received their prizes, sponsored by Auckland Radiology Group, at the ASM Gala Dinner.

The Targeting Cancer Fun Run is open to delegates and members of the public alike. If you are in Melbourne on 17 October 2020 and would like to show your support of Targeting Cancer, keep an eye on the Targeting Cancer website (registrations will open in early 2020).
