Michael’s Story

Michael was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1995. The cancer had already spread outside his prostate gland, so his urologist referred him for radiation therapy. Nearly 18 years on, he lives an active life.

Michael was instrumental in setting up Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia, and still provides support to men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer.

He has witnessed great improvements in radiation therapy. New technologies allow the radiation oncology team to deliver stronger doses in a more targeted fashion. This maximises the destruction of cancer cells, whilst reducing side effects.
