Professor Currow’s Story

As a palliative care physician, Professor David Currow treats a variety of patients to reduce the symptoms of cancer.

Radiation therapy can be used to shrink tumours, reducing pain caused by tumours pressing on nerves. Other symptoms that can be managed by radiation therapy include breathing and digestive problems caused by blockages of the airways or bowel.

Relief from the symptoms of cancer improves overall quality of life, allowing patients to function better, and feel happier.

Professor Currow believes that access to radiation therapy services is crucial for good palliative care.
