Targeting Cancer Fun Run Returns

26 Sep 2022

We’re pleased to announce that the Targeting Cancer Fun Run will return this year at the 72nd Annual Scientific Meeting in Adelaide on 29 October morning after two years’ absence due to the pandemic. It has made its way back to the beautiful riverbank of Torrens Adelaide where it all started.

Since its inception in 2015 in Adelaide, Targeting Cancer Fun Run has become one of the most iconic events of RANZCR Annual Scientific Meetings with worldwide footprints. It all started along the scenic River Torrens in South Australia, was taken up at the Viaduct Harbour in New Zealand, lakeside in Canberra, and a Targeting Cancer supporting fun run at the ESTRO meeting in downtown Milan in Italy. It attracts and brings together hundreds of Targeting Cancer supporters including radiation oncologists, clinical radiologists, trainees, sponsors, exhibitors, health workers, consumers and college staff to raise awareness of radiation therapy.

Julie McCrossin AM, Targeting Cancer Campaign Ambassador, head and neck cancer survivor, and broadcaster, said: “I’m extremely excited about the return of the Fun Run. I was part of the inaugural run back in 2015 in Adelaide. It was truly impressive to see so many fit and lively radiation oncologists and colleagues showing their commitment to physical exercise, which helps prevent everything, and raising awareness about the importance of radiation therapy in cancer care. It is the treatment that saved my life!”

There will be awards and prizes for the fastest male runner and the fastest female runner respectively, plus a mysterious prize to celebrate the return of the Fun Run.

Register now! Join the Targeting Cancer Fun Run 2022 to help us raise awareness of radiation therapy for cancer treatment. See you soon in Adelaide!
