Meg’s Story

Meg is a radiation oncology nurse. She describes her role as “a patient advocate and support person for patients.”

People who have just been diagnosed with cancer are often in a vulnerable position, and Meg provides both psychological and practical support to patients and their families. As such, she often forms lasting relationships with her patients, which she finds extremely rewarding.

“As a cancer nurse you actually get to know what the patients are doing, you get to know their families, you get to know the impact that this disease is having on them. As a nurse, if you can support them through that, that is incredibly fulfilling.”
